Battered Soul has more pages to continue the story of Urith’s first loss to an opponent and his disfiguring injury. His part of the battle now over, he reports back to meet his father only to find that Uolven is seriously wounded. His friend, Guthlaf, joins him and they eventually discover Uolven in a healer’s house where he lays dying. Embittered by grief and his injury, Urith listens to his father’s final instructions when they are interrupted by Urith’s pregnant wife.
