Two More First Issue Golden Age Comics
Space Detective and Air Fighters Comics
Closing out the year with two comics that came in today for my collection. When I get these in the case like this, I find them to read online.
From 1951, Space Detective from Avon Publications. It’s only 4 issues for the series. I love this description of the first issue, “When danger threatens the Earth, wealthy Rod Hathaway and his secretary Dot change into the space-roving superheroes The Avenger and Teena.”. On the back is an ad for “The Most Amazing Sun Watch in the world!”
From 10 years earlier, in November 1941, you have the first and only appearance of Black Commander in Air Fighter Comics by Hillman Periodicals. The 22 issue run is more famous for Airboy, the Golden Age aviator hero and his sentient plane, “Birdie”.
