My weekly updates for Ray Irish dropped off recently, primarily due to the holiday/end of the year. During that time, Vin and I came up with plan to put together a Kickstarter campaign.
Well, we’re getting closer to kick this off (pun intended). The story will come in a print form around 70 pages. Today, I’m showing off some of the work Vin’s completed drafts along with variant covers and some of the marketing already completed.
FREAK SHOW GRAPHIC NOVEL - A Horror Anthology
When a strange hearse bearing the name of FREAK SHOW arrives in small towns in the USA during the 1940s, the small crowds should walk the other way. The mysterious traveler, dressed as a carnival barker, regales the crowd that gathers with stories about the various odd items in his possession. For only a nickel, each customer can view an amazing display of jars containing odd specimens and look over the strange artifacts that line the shelves inside the hearse. As patrons walk through with their mysterious escort, they find the inside space of the vehicle appears much larger than possible. Each item they see gives off a strange and malevolent aura, making most want to leave immediately. Still, the quiet woman who escorts them never warns the customers about touching the items on display. Those who cannot grasp the danger leave the hearse a changed person, a cursed person.
Each night, Colonel Winthrop E. Smith and his silent familiar drive to a crossroads where they make their campsite. There, the mysterious couple call for Buer—a powerful demon. When their partner appears, the traveler recites a story. It’s the story of that day’s cursed victim and their downfall.
As the anthology of each cursed person's tale proceeds, the story also brings in the background of the main characters and provides details into the association between Smith and the demon.
I’m fond of the first story called The Midas Touch.
I hope you’ll consider becoming a backer of this project in the near future. I’m including some of the comics from Strange Twisted Tales and Creepsi as part of the “extras” available for supporters.
