From October of 1942, Wiz Comics #36 arrived. Not in the greatest shape (with part of the cover missing), but I enjoy the Halloween motif and the fight against the dread Nazi.
I also picked up some #1 issues from the 1970s. The first is a Curtis Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction. With a bit of research I found that Curtis came from Marvel (owned by another company at the time) and used the Marvel staffers and freelancers to create the comics (without the need for the Comic Code limits).
As you can see from this next #1 Dracula Lives, Marvel is on the cover page. Both of these have black and white stories inside and are a bit more of a magazine format then earlier Marvel comics as well.
This Warren Creepy #57 issue came in as well. I can see why I loved these covers as a kid. They were located on the bottom shelves at the local grocery store.
This Warren Eerie Annual from 1971 is showing a lot of cover wear but I’m interested in the stories inside. After all it’s the Best Stories Ever…lol.
If you’re looking for modern horror stories from me, I’ll hawk my Strange Twisted Tales below (plus an earlier run of Creepsi). As a paid subscriber, you can read and download these comics on this blog.
